Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What schools have Grand Traverse hotel priority this year? See Priority List

  • Can we make reservations right now? Are there any offsite hotel accommodations? Yes, see 2023 HOSA Michigan SLC Packet for details.

  • Will there be a virtual option for the 2023 State Leadership Conference? The only virtual options are National Geographic tests, Recognition and other state only events. All of the tests will be taken online on March 18th and other events will need to be uploaded/submitted by March 24th. The finalists will be awarded on stage at SLC, but members do not need to present. More information HERE.

  • My event partner(s) cannot attend the conference. Can I still compete? You can compete with 25% of your original team. Therefore, if you need to replace/add some members that is acceptable.

  • Can I compete in multiple events at SLC? You can compete in the competitive event you qualified for AND a Recognition/State Only Event.

  • Does my advisor need to attend the conference? Yes, your advisor needs to attend SLC. Students are NOT allowed to attend on their own. There must be one chaperone for every 30 students in a chapter. For example, if you have 100 students attending, there must be 4 chaperones attending.

  • Who needs to register for the conference and what is the cost? The registration for all competitors, advisors, family and guests is $80/person. Included in the registration fee is a name badge, conference program, a seat at the two grand ceremonies (including awards), conference T-shirt for students and a 1/4 zip pullover for advisors. If a guest/family member/chaperone plan to attend but do NOT want any of those things (including a seat at ceremonies), then they do not need to register for the conference.

  • Do I need a Photo ID to compete in my event? Yes, you need to show proof of identity to event managers when checking into your event. A photo of an ID is acceptable.

  • Will TALLO be used for SLC? If so, when is the deadline? Yes, Tallo will be used for SLC. The deadline is Friday, March 24, 2023 by 11:59 PM.
