2022 MI HOSA State Leadership Conference

February 24th-25th, 2022 (in-person)
COVID Statement: Given the recent COVID numbers, the conference was almost moved to a virtual format. We have been working with the Grand Traverse Resort and the Michigan Department of Education to ensure we are progressing as we should. Officially, Michigan HOSA will host an IN-PERSON 2022 State Leadership Conference. The only way that it would move to virtual is by the Governor calling off the event. Which at this point, is highly unlikely. Some schools have stated that they may not participate due to administrative restrictions. The only virtual option to participate is Recognition Events. More information below.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What schools have Grand Traverse hotel priority this year? Schools beginning with the letter G-Z will have priority alphabetically. You will have until January 15 to submit your reservations. After January 15, the hotel will determine who is in the hotel. Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee space before January 15th.

  • Can we make reservations right now? Are there any offsite hotel accommodations? You can make reservations offsite. We are currently working on options to nearby hotels that we will provide scheduled transportation to and from.

  • Will there be a virtual option for the 2022 State Leadership Conference? The only virtual event options are Recognition Events. More info here.

  • Will there be any safety precautions in place to help prevent the spread of Covid-19? Yes!

    • Masks are mandatory.

    • Everyone attending must receive a negative COVID-19 rapid test prior to coming.

    • We will social distance the best we can.

    • Hand sanitizer will we readily available.

    • Encourage schools to facilitate daily temperature checks.

  • What if someone who is registered for SLC tests positive for COVID and can no longer attend? They will receive their $75 refund from MI HOSA. This is the ONLY scenario where refunds are granted.

  • My event partner(s) cannot attend the conference. Can I still compete? You can compete with 25% of your original team. Therefore, if you need to replace/add some members that is acceptable.

  • Can I compete in multiple events at SLC? You can compete in the competitive event you qualified for AND a Recognition/State Only Event.

  • Does my advisor need to attend the conference? If your advisor does not attend the conference, you must have a parent/school sanctioned adult accompany you to the conference. Students are NOT allowed to attend on their own. We will have a form for school administration and advisors to fill out with the student and guardian information soon.

  • Who needs to register for the conference and what is the cost? The registration for all competitors, advisors, family and guests is $75/person. Included in the registration fee is a name badge, conference program, a seat at the two grand ceremonies (including awards), conference T-shirt for students and a 1/4 zip pullover for advisors. If a guest/family member/chaperone plan to attend but do NOT want any of those things (including a seat at ceremonies), then they do not need to register for the conference.

  • Do I need a Photo ID to compete in my event? Yes, you need to show proof of identity to event managers when checking into your event. A photo of an ID is acceptable.

  • Will TALLO be used for SLC? If so, when is the deadline? TALLO will be mandatory for  Job Seeking Skills, Interviewing Skills and some Recognition events. Please see the event modifications of these events for specific dates.
